The Fourth of July is not exactly one of my most favorite holidays only because it is always so HOT and I don't find any pleasure in being overheated. However, I absolutely love seeing all the red, white, and blue, and dressing all festive. I love seeing watermelon and fireworks and water balloons and all the summer fun things that come out with the Independence Day Holiday. I love watching fireworks and eating our traditional Fourth treats; twizzlers and caramel corn and fruit (even though we didn't have caramel corn this year....) I love recognizing the blessings we enjoy here in our country and coming together as a nation to celebrate our history and origin.
This year we got to watch the Dale City Parade with Grandma and Grandpa walking in it. They were with our church float. They built a "temple" at Girls' Camp and decided to turn it into a float for the parade. They handed out pass along cards as they walked through.
We went home and rested and played and then had a hot dog roast and headed over to Manassas for the fireworks show. It turned out to be a great success! We were skeptical of fighting crowds and having the show not be worth it. I am so glad we decided to go because it was a lot of fun and we had NO struggle with traffic, found a place to sit just FINE, we were a distance from the fireworks but it was a perfect VIEW, we were right next to a Walgreens so we could go in for a drink/treats/activities/bathroom if we needed to, and it was not so incredibly crowded like it is in D.C. Not that going into D.C. is not worth it because it is such a fun and exciting experience, but I think we will go for the Manassas Fireworks show again in the future. It was a perfect alternative to going into Washington D.C. because it wasn't an all day affair.

| Lydia saw a big firework go off in the other direction just as we were snapping the picture. She put on quite an act that she was scared but she loved them, just didn't want to admit it or something...? And it definitely looks like that baby is about to just roll out of my tummy! :) |

| Miles loved watching the fireworks too. He did get sleepy and a little cranky at the end, but he enjoyed watching them. |
