December 2014: Christmas Day

We were humbled this year, and also blessed immensely this year for Christmas. What we thought was going to be a VERY meager Christmas turned out to be grand! Christmas cheer and beauty and peace, love, joy....everything Christmas represents was brought alive. It was magical! The kids woke up normal time, it had started snowing before Chris and I went to bed and so we were so excited to show the kids the next morning (we were afraid it wasn't going to be a white Christmas). They thought it was a Christmas Miracle!
Santa brought a baby doll for Faith, a big farm for Miles (barn, animals, and a farmer), a beautiful art table for Lydia, and a small table and chairs for the kids to sit at for coloring and crafts. He was spot on this year, and they all LOVED (LOVE) their gifts!

I just love seeing hard work paying off! Seeing the kids sit at the table and color and draw together was truly gratifying!

Christmas Dinner (a little secret, shhh, this dinner was actually served on the 26th) We didn't feel like slaving in the kitchen on Christmas Day, so we looked online to see about going out. We were excited when it looked like Texas Roadhouse was open, but after we loaded the kids and got there, it was completely dark and empty.....definitely not open....so we ended up going to IHOP. :) It was nice not to have to cook and clean up. This dinner the next night was even better too! I was very very delighted with how it all turned out! Made me feel like an excellent cook because everything was DELICIOUS! Glazed ham, asparagus, cheesy potatoes, and cranberry salad. Perfect!
