Tea for Two

 After last year's big party with all of Lydia's friends, I did not want to do another party like that. It was all right, just not my thing. I didn't enjoy it much, I think Lydia may have, but I did not. So this year, I couldn't bear to not do anything, but I didn't want to invite a bunch of children (...and now that we are here in Stafford, she hasn't made many friends because there are very few her age)...any way. I came up with a brilliant idea to just have more like a "play date" with one little girl from church. They just barely started getting acquainted and so I thought maybe this would help them develop a friendship. Any way....I came up with a tea party, since that seemed to fit with Valentine's Day too! And I will have to say, I AM A GENIUS! :) It was Perfect! They had a great time! No drama! No having to herd children. No crazy noise. No stress over gifts and goodie bags and all that. It was simple and fun.

They spent the first little bit decorating their cups with jewel stickers. They loved this! They talked and giggled and loved creating their own fancy cup.

Then I showed them the chest with dresses. And they jumped right in! :) Shannon chose her favorite color, purple and Lydia, of course chose the most frilly one, her favorite lacey orange dress that was Aunt Rachel's when she was little!

My cute little Valentine!

I was worried they'd feel silly since they barely knew each other and they'd have a hard time getting into it. This little girl's name is Shannon and she was just so perfect! So cute and totally down with dressing up and playing! We played a few short little games and that was it!
